KAREN LEWIS-ATTENBOROUGH It must be a human right to be free to walk on your own land and provide food for your family. It must be a birth right to be able to use and keep your limbs. These perfectly fundamental freedoms are denied to many. We must give them back. The thought that, at any moment, any one of the people we love most in the world could be killed or maimed on the land we like to call home is unimaginable. This is why my father-in-law Lord Attenborough has agreed to become a Patron of the Mineseeker Foundation and Sole of Africa Project and why I am honoured to be one of its Ambassadors. The detection of mines, their clearance, the release of land back to agriculture and the empowerment of affected people is a desperately needed initiative. Along with the important work being done in victim assistance, feeding programmes, micro-loans and medical projects, it is easy to see how much can be achieved. |

LUCIE DIAMOND “It is just appalling and beyond belief to think that literally every 19 minutes, someone is maimed or killed by a landmine on our planet, planted deliberately by another human being to do exactly that, in cold blood. I am told there are an estimated 100 million landmines in Africa, and Mozambique is the worst area affected." “This is not just another cause to take people’s money, it is much more than that. That is why I am humbled and honoured be asked to become an Ambassador, and I gladly accept. I will do everything I possibly can in my own small way, to help raise awareness, and that is why I am going to see for myself the misery and suffering caused to innocent victims, and the good that can be done after we rid the land of these evil things.” |

Amanda said "I am delighted to join Mineseeker andThe SOle of Africa and mines represent a terrifying problem for many people, killing and maiming innocent victims, usually women and children, every 14 minutes. It is an horrific man made problem and we have to find a man made solution. Mineseeker is raising funds for a new technology that can detect the mines from the air and The Sole of Africa is supporting the victims who have lost limbs and the families who have lost loved ones". "I love Africa, which is very badly affected, I have worked there many times and I am honoured to be a part of a project that will bring help and assistance to so many people that live in fear of their lives". Mike Kendrick, of Bridgenorth, Shropshire, Founder of the Mineseeker Foundation said "We are delighted that Amanda has agreed to join us. We need to promote constant awareness of this landmine disaster and Amanda's profile will help us achieve that. She is so proud to wear The Sole of Africa pin badge which is a single footprint, a poignant reminder that most land mine victims, - those who survive, - have only one leg, some have no legs, or arms, or they may be blinded. Amanda is right, this is a man made problem. We did this to them". |

Mike Kendrick - Founder : The Mineseeker Foundation, Chairman : Mineseeker SA Mr Kendrick’s initial business was in the field of public relations, having founded Good Relations, which became one of the two largest communications firms in the UK. It was here the he was introduced to the merits of airships. He went on to establish a company that became the worlds largest airship and balloon enterprise and this activity made him one of the most travelled people on the planet. Mr. Kendrick was joined in partnership with Richard Branson of Virgin Airlines, to develop the lighter than air business. He went on to organize the entire projects for the Atlantic, Pacific and ‘round the world’ attempts. The death of Princess Diana marked a turning point for Mr. Kendrick. The tragic event spurred the inspiration of a vision that formulated into Minseekers. Armed with the knowledge of airship abilities and the Ministry of Defenses X-Ray technology, Mr. Kendrick realized the solution to one aspect of war’s most deadly inheritance. This idea has now captured patrons and partners to forge a means to continue The Princess’s legacy for the eradication of land mines from the face of the planet. |
